What did it sell for?
Hausten 903 [ML 1213465]
Listed by Prudential Locations LLC
http://statigr.am/p/351670379189050086_30946477
Less than 30 days ago, I visited a hot new listing in the Hausten Condominium and it was on my #RealtyRickSees stream. The Hausten features 1 bedroom units that are 2-level. It's not the most ideal floor plan for everyone (specifically those that do not want stairs), but the lay out is popular among many other people. The Hausten is also a pet friendly building in an area that is considered convenient for those that are looking for something in "town".

This 9th floor unit featured a great panoramic view of Waikiki and it was very clean with new carpet. This sold for the list price of $299,000 in under 30 days. There is no doubt that it was a nice listing!

This type of response has been typical in the market for the last few months and the competition is increasing as more an more people realize that it is. Are you ready to jump on that hot new listing to be sure you have a chance to get what you want or need?

Happy to say that we all seem to be fine here in Hawaii this morning.

Last night, Hawaii experienced another Tsunami Warning issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. I learned about it at about 745pm while I was out in Hawaii Kai with Lola at the Halloween Spooktacular. Luckily, we were able to get on the road and head back home before the roads got all jammed up and closed. To get home from Hawaii Kai to Saint Louis Heights, it normally requires driving along Kalanianaole Highway unless you go around the Windward side and Kalanianaole Highway will almost always be closed to traffic if there is a tsunami warning because it runs right along the shore, just yards away from the water and in the inundation zone.

This leads me to the topic of buying a home in Hawaii in an area categorized as a flood zone by FEMA. We have had a few tsunami warnings in the recent years and we've been relatively lucky with the amount of damage that Hawaii's coastal areas have experienced. What would it mean to you and how would it affect your decision on where to buy your home? Would you be comfortable purchasing a beach front home or any home in an A or AE Floodzone?

Just a thought... anyway, you can check if an address is in the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center's evacuation zone by putting into the search at their link here: http://ptwc.weather.gov/ptwc/hawaii.php.
As you can see by this screen capture after entering the address of where I was
at last night (Hawaii Kai Towne Center), I was in an evacuation zone and surrounded
by roads that would be closed during a tsunami.
http://tsunami.csc.noaa.gov/map.html?Address=6600+Kalanianaole+Highway+&City=Honolulu&Zip=96825&submit3=Search+Address
While this tsunami warning caused a slightly abrupt end to our fun night at the Halloween Spooktacular, I am really impressed that I received the Google Public Alert on my Android phone prior to the Hawaii Civil Defense Warning Sirens going off for the first alert. It allowed me to be aware and get on the way home before the panic and the traffic became a mess!

This morning was the Hawaiian Humane Society's PetWalk at Magic Island. We managed to make it out there just in time for the start. I was not expecting to see such a large crowd of people and pets! I really expected to drive in to Ala Moana Beach Park around 730am, park the car and get Lola walking over to check it out. When we arrived, we saw packs of dogs being walked across Ala Moana Boulevard after they parked at the shopping center, where we eventually ended up parking after making through the beach parking traffic.

Lola appears to have enjoyed the morning at the PetWalk. We weren't too sure how it would turn out because Lola doesn't seem to really enjoy walking outdoors that much. She also hasn't really met and interacted with so many dogs before. I think she is already looking forward to the next PetWalk!

Now it's time for me to get out to see some open houses. Stay tuned for the HBR September statistics that I will have posted at 9am tomorrow.

Sunday is the Hawaiian Human Society's PetWalk at Magic Island. I'm going to bring Lola Red Bourbon to the PetWalk to check it out. Normally, pets are not allowed at Magic Island because it isn't one of the parks that you can walk you pets at. This will be a first time for Lola & me to join a PetWalk! It might get interesting because Lola doesn't really like to walk around outside that much.

"Like" it here to vote for me. :)
I am happy to announce that my attempt to make a little contribution to the awareness of Lanakila Pacific Meals on Wheels & The Good Table dinner event last night exhausted my quarter supply! My blog post yesterday explained what I had planned to do [post]. Briefly, I committed to dropping a quarter into a pot that was to be donated to Lanakila Pacific Meals on Wheels for every "like" of a photo posted in relation to last night's The Good Table dinner event. Straight to the point, I budgeted $50 in quarters and I ran out during the time frame (530p-930p) that I said I would be keeping track of the likes. Luckily, other members of Indigo Hawaii's The Good Table stepped in to fulfill the few likes that I had run out of quarters to cover and then dropped in even more money... paper money! Thank goodness because if they all used quarters, that would have been a heavy load to carry back to my car!

The break down...

The likes and retweets, etc. during the event generated totaled $62.50. @WorldWideEd a.k.a. @VH07V (that's a zero in the middle) chose to match my $62.50! @JarOfClay73, @BelzHere & Bari also contributed to cover and exceed the 25 cents per like challenge. The total that ended up with in the donation pot is $137.50!

On top of the $137.50 that we gathered for Lanakila Pacific, I also received a $20 contribution from @BelzHere toward Lola Red Bourbon's donations to the Hawaiian Human Society's PetWalk at Magic Island on Sunday!

Will you be at the PetWalk this Sunday? We hope to see you there!
