Her examples and statistics of the need and requirements of an aging-in-place design were excellent. This morning's presentation was just a brief introduction to her interior design services, but from what I've seen, it would be worthwhile to contact her if you are thinking of any renovations or building from scratch to get the advantages of her CAPS designs that do not disrupt the "normal" life style.

I am happy to announce that my attempt to make a little contribution to the awareness of Lanakila Pacific Meals on Wheels & The Good Table dinner event last night exhausted my quarter supply! My blog post yesterday explained what I had planned to do [post]. Briefly, I committed to dropping a quarter into a pot that was to be donated to Lanakila Pacific Meals on Wheels for every "like" of a photo posted in relation to last night's The Good Table dinner event. Straight to the point, I budgeted $50 in quarters and I ran out during the time frame (530p-930p) that I said I would be keeping track of the likes. Luckily, other members of Indigo Hawaii's The Good Table stepped in to fulfill the few likes that I had run out of quarters to cover and then dropped in even more money... paper money! Thank goodness because if they all used quarters, that would have been a heavy load to carry back to my car!

The break down... 

The likes and retweets, etc. during the event generated totaled $62.50. @WorldWideEd a.k.a. @VH07V (that's a zero in the middle) chose to match my $62.50! @JarOfClay73, @BelzHere & Bari also contributed to cover and exceed the 25 cents per like challenge. The total that ended up with in the donation pot is $137.50!

On top of the $137.50 that we gathered for Lanakila Pacific, I also received a $20 contribution from @BelzHere toward Lola Red Bourbon's donations to the Hawaiian Human Society's PetWalk at Magic Island on Sunday!

Tonight is the night! 

What night you ask? The Good Table dinner night. You may recall last year I had dinner at Ola Restaurant for The Good Table dinner. That was an amazing evening with great friends. Tonight's dinner will be at Indigo Hawaii in downtown. This one night of dining out is Lanakila Pacific's annual fundraising event to "Turning one meal into many..." 

What is The Good Table?

The Good Table is an island-wide dining event to benefit Lanakila Meals on Wheels. On Thursday, October 4th at 6PM people will sit down to a special dinner where they will be treated like VIPs! 

Tables are purchased in advance and a unique dining experience is created by the chef and staff. Your participation turns one meal into many for Hawaii’s kupuna!

This will be the my third year participating in this unique dining event and I am very excited. The past years got me wondering how I could make the night a little more interesting, but I never really had the time to thoroughly think about what I wanted to do. I didn't really thoroughly think it through this year either, but really, it's actually been rolling around in my mind somewhere all year long so I'm going for it!

Tonight's The Good Table event is not only to raise funds for Lanakila Pacific Meals on Wheels, but it is also to raise awareness. Since I don't have a large amount of funds to work with, I thought I'd do something extra to assist with raising awareness of the event. I got a hold of a few rolls of quarters and I'm going to drop one quarter into a pot/cup/bucket/napkin or whatever is around on our table tonight for each of the following occurrences between 530p and 930p tonight:

1.  I receive a notice that a Tweet sent from @RickNakama that contains the #TheGoodTable hashtag, @LanakilaPacific and a link to a photo that I took has been "ReTweeted".
2. My Instagram (@RickNakama) will be the main host of my #TheGoodTable photos. For each "like" any Instagram that I post with #TheGoodTable hashtag gets. 
3. Each Facebook "like" of #TheGoodTable Instagram photo.
4. Each Facebook comment that mentions and tags both Lanakila Pacific and The Good Table in the comment on one of my #TheGoodTable Instagram photos.

At 930p tonight, each quarter that makes it into the pot will be donated to Lanakila Pacific. If I run out of quarters, I will tweet out that I have donated all my quarters and my bonus fund is maxed out. The results will be based according to my personal semi real time accounting of those events that I said I will track. Seems like fun and I'm curious to see what kind of activity this will raise. If not much difference, oh well... if it's a lot, I may be broke by 930p tonight! Hahahaha!

Back in June, you may remember I posted, on my #RealtyRickSees Instagram Feed, a home on Aha Nui Place up Waialae Nui Ridge that had an amazing Diamond Head view. It was ML 1206497, listed by Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties for $1,999,900. This home was also blogged by Melissa Chang in her Honolulu Magazine Real Estate Blog [post]. This property is the update to my "What did it sell for?" blog tag. It sold for just a few bucks OVER the list price and recorded at $1,999,999! Lanakila Pacific Meals on Wheels

We did our Meals on Wheels route about an hour earlier than usual this morning to avoid getting stuck in APEC traffic.  Thank goodness it worked out!  Minutes after crossing over from the North side of H1 to the South side, the routes were closed down.  We were able to deliver all the meals and as we delivered the last stop, roads opened back up just in time for us to return.  :)

It's also the start of APEC week in Hawaii.  The center of all the APEC action is happening just across the street from here at the Hawaii Convention Center, but the road closures haven't started yet.  I do notice a lot of extra security walking around in the Ala Moana Center parking lot wearing bright yellow shirts instead of their usual white uniforms.

I saw on the hotsheet that 1505 Kalaepohaku Place recorded at a price of  $825,000.  I don't know if you remember this house, but this is the house that Diane Ito from Coldwell Banker had listed.  She invited us to a few wine tasting parties in the evening and we were able to enjoy the view of the sunset, city lights and fireworks from this home.

How was your weekend?  I had a busy weekend, thank goodness for coffee or I don't think I would be able to function this morning to do Meal on Wheels!

I had a nice coffee meetup (Tweetup w/@Konaish, @S4xton, @ShilohSwanson, @HokiPokiCoffee +Hubby, @JenMartyLoveLee +Hubby, @HNLMark & @AlohaSteph) at Beach Bum Cafe on Saturday morning with a special visit by the Hoki Poki Kona Coffee people.  My friend, Jen (@JenMartyLoveLee - She's still learning what to do with Twitter), was in town and she does the creative art for Hoki Poki.

Then on Sunday I started with @WorldWideEd's 2nd Annual Rice Fest Rice Hunt (#RiceHunt) at Magic Island, which I didn't win :(.  There was a new listing that was having their first open in the afternoon that I needed to check out, so I did that.  And finally, Yoga in the Park with Keith Sato to end the weekend working out.  Phew!
